GREENWELL - THELMA

Thelma Greenwell, born October 5, 1919, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005 with all five daughters at her side. She was born in Winnipeg and moved to Haney to teach in 1942. Shortly after arriving, Thelma met and married Bob Greenwell. When the youngest of her five daughters started school, Thelma returned to Maple Ridge Secondary School where she taught Home Economics until she retired in 1977. She was always delighted to meet and talk with former students and hear how much they enjoyed her classes and that they were still using the skills she taught them. Thelma was active in the St.. Andrew's United Church Ethel Menzies Unit, University Women's Club and the Maple Ridge Historical Society. Thelma was predeceased by her husband Bob, her five brothers and grandson, Martin and is lovingly remembered by her five daughters, Dawn Nylund (Jack), Susie Greenwell (Patrick Milley), Peggy Roberts (Doug), Bev Greenwell (Charles Weber) and Evie Fairbrother (Peter); grandchildren Robin Hoffman (Steve), Bob Wallace (Marnie), Leigh and Scott Wallace, Lauren Bennewith (Kevin), Shannon Roberts (Manfred Milewski), Keith Roberts, Dana and Carley Fairbrother, Jeremy and Sherryl Weber and 8 great grandchildren. Her quiet strength, patience and quick wit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. The family thanks the staff at Golden Ears Retirement Centre for their loving care and support during her stay at the centre. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 22165 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, BC on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 1:00PM.
