Vera Doreen
On a lovely day in May in the mid 1930's a beautiful baby girl was born to James and Margaret Langston in St. Vital, Manitoba. Vera joined five older siblings and later was joined by one younger brother. She spent most of her growing up years in Maple Ridge, BC until she met and married the love of her life Richard (Dick) and moved to Departure Bay, BC. It was in Departure Bay that she and Dick built their home and raised their family. Vera's passions in life were her family and friends, gardening and volunteering at her church. Vera spent the last 21/2 years courageously battling cancer and peacefully went to be with her Lord on the afternoon of August 19th with her sons at her side.
Vera is pre-deceased by her parents, infant daughter Valerie, sister May and brother Wally and her beloved husband Dick. She is survived by her sons Dan (Debbie), Allan (Dawna) and Bill (Krista), grandchildren Kyla, Sarayha, Olivia, Nikalus and Dayton, brothers James Langston, Bill (Greta) Langston, Bruce (Bev) Langston, Roy (Margaret) Langston along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. The family would like to thank Dr.s Houghton, Alexander, Atwell, and Dunn, the BC Cancer Clinic, NRGH hospital ER staff, 6th floor nurses and especially the staff and volunteers at the Palliative Care for their care and support during Mom's final days. A service for Vera will be held for family and friends on Thursday, Aug 28th at 1:00pm at Sand's Funeral Chapel. Vera will be laid to rest along side Dick and near to their daughter Valerie at Nanaimo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nanaimo or Victoria Cancer Clinics.
