LANGSTON, Vernon Douglas George

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Surrounded by his family, Vern peacefully went to be with our Lord Jesus after a courageously fought battle with illness.
Vern was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan where he enjoyed a childhood that he fondly told stories about. It was there that he met the love of his life Phyllis, whom he married at age 18. He worked tirelessly at several occupations and retired as owner of Vern Langston Wholesale Meats. He was especially proud of their home in Burnaby where he meticulously cared for the yard and pool. He enjoyed travel, golf, curling, lawn bowling, and most of all attending Highland games. Neighbourhood gatherings and church involvement became part of his life during the last 19 years in Maple Ridge. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, faithful spirit and quick wit. Vern truly lived life. He was a people person and everyone that met him had an instant liking for him. He was a quiet and patient man who offered wise advice when most needed. More than anything, he loved his family and cherished every moment he shared with them.
Vern will be forever missed by his loving wife, Phyllis, son David (Christine), and daughters Cindy (David) and Michelle (David). Missing Grandpa are his grandchildren, Sabrina (Roger), Elise (Jonathan), Michael (Bev), Ryan (Laura), Darren, Alexandra, Ian and his great grandchildren Ethan, Bradley, Caleb, Haylie, Keenan, and Chloe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the McKenney Creek Hospice. The family is ever so thankful for this wonderful facility and the staff that provided amazing support during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 21299 River Road, Maple Ridge, on Friday April 30, at 1:00pm. Reception to follow.
