Captain William Crighton Duncan
Passed away peacefully on May 17th surrounded by loved ones. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Grace, in 2002.
Bill was born July 24th 1922 in Vancouver to parents James and Helena Duncan. Bill had one sister, Jean (predeceased) and has one brother Roy Duncan (Eleanor).
Bill attended McBride Elementary and Vancouver Tech. He joined the Navy and soon after met the love of his life Gracie. They have 6 children, Gerry, Patty (John), Wendy (Delmar), Kathy (Norm), Sandy (Bert) and Jack (Jeaneth). Twelve grandchildren, Kelly, Helena, Jessica, Lizbeth, Elio, Sarah, Quinn, Caitlin, Jordan, Camille, Sumiko and Mitchell. There are 4 great grandchildren, Luigi, Owen, Izabella, Grace and Grace.
"Westcoast Bill" was a tugboat Captain and proudly sailed the coast of B.C. for 50 years.
Bill was a long standing member of A.N.A.F. Unit 26. He was a loving son, husband, father, father in-law, brother and brother in-law. He was a wonderful uncle to all of his nieces and nephews and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all.
Thank you to the staff at both Ridge Meadows and Royal Columbian Hospitals for the wonderful care they gave our Dad. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bill's name to the new palliative care unit at Ridge Meadows hospital in Maple Ridge.
There will be a celebration of the life of Bill Duncan on June 3, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel - 11765 224th Street, Maple Ridge.
