Re: Petition to stop ‘train blasts’ (The News, April 26).

For years I am fighting for a better quality of life in Maple Ridge and that concerns the whistling of the passing trains through the residential areas. Reading the statements of the mayor of Maple Ridge doesn’t promise a successful result of the petition.

The councils of Pitt Meadows and New Westminster have a lot more consideration with complaints of the inhabitants of their cities, resulting in cessation of whistling in their residential areas.

We hope the best for the thousands of people in Maple Ridge living in the corridor of the CP rail tracks.

I am one more resident annoyed by the train whistles. It might help if we knew if blowing whistles has made us any safer than our quieter neighbours. I am not sure what effect more names on a petition would have, but if you think it would help, I’d be happy to get some from our complex.
