Letters: Trains through Pitt ‘lay on those horns’

I agree with Marilyn Cowie when she says that these are not “whistles” but “blasts.”

Re: Petition to stop ‘train blasts’ (The News, April 26).

I agree with Marilyn Cowie when she says that these are not “whistles” but “blasts.”

I’m old enough to remember the mournful and emotive whistles of the steam locomotives that Jimmie Rogers used to sing about.

But anyone who has ever been to a hockey game and sat anywhere near one of those morons with their air horns can imagine how irritating these current horns are at 3 a.m.

And, Pitt Meadows may have a bylaw, but I live there, and these guys typically lay on those horns routinely through all three, and maybe four crossings, all of which are gated, light signaled and with bells on.

So, the Maple Ridge petition may not work any better than our’s has.
