Cyclist peeved at car cutting him off

Editor, The News:

This is an open letter to the driver of the Honda Civic, who nearly ran me over on Golden Ears Way Monday morning during my cycle commute to work.

It’s clear you’re new at this driving thing, but seriously… did you not learn a single thing before being granted the privilege of driving?

What made you think you could safely make a right turn on to 210th Street from the left lane of Golden Ears Way when there was another vehicle (me, on my bike) in the right lane?

I hadn’t yet signaled my intention to turn, so you should have assumed I was going straight through. It’s a good thing for both of us that I’m better at cycling than you are at driving, or I’d be in the hospital right now and you’d be facing some tough questions from police and ICBC.

By the way, you’ll be happy to know I recorded your action on my BikeCam – 24 seconds of video is available for you, your friends, your relatives, the police and any interested ICBC personnel to watch.
