The Ridge Meadows Rustlers atom A1 hockey team travelled to Lynnwood, Washington, last weekend and took home the top prize at the Seattle Junior Ice Breaker Atom Rep Tournament.

The Rustlers finished first place in their placement tier and won the championship title with a tournament record of four wins and one tie.

The Rustlers faced a familiar foe in the final, as they defeated the Port Moody atom A1 team 7-1.

It was a great start to the 2011/12 season for the team in their first tournament of the year.

“All of the boys put in a great effort throughout and everyone contributed towards bringing home the trophy,” said head coach Dave Denney.

“I was very proud of the boys, especially with their heart and their enthusiasm demonstrated throughout the tournament.”

The team is looking forward to the beginning league play in the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association later this month.

The atom A1 Rustlers: Nick Amsler, Asher Braski, Sean Butler, Luke Budisa, Eric Clark, Jackson Chmiliar, Ryan Denney, Dylan Ford, Jakob Gullmes, Cody Hough, Ethan Kitsch, Logan Kurki, Dylan Kong, Nathan Lusher, Kyle Mair, Jacob Shkwarok, and Cody Zachow.
