Tuesday night was a game the Ridge Meadows Flames would just as soon forget, as they were pummeled 12-1 by the Delta Ice Hawks on the road. The local junior B hockey team was out shot by a margin of 59 to 18, as both starting goaltender Jordan Eggert and back up Nicholas Clark struggled to keep pucks out of the Flames’ net.

The Ice Hawks didn’t waste any time taking the lead, as they scored two minutes into the first period. The score remained 1-0 until the 12th minute, when Delta managed a pair of goals in the span of 12 seconds.

That prompted Eggert to get the hook after allowing three goals on 12 shots. Clark was barely settled in net when the Ice Hawks scored short-handed less than a minute later.

Delta managed to put up a five-goal lead in the first period off of 17 shots. The onslaught continued unabated in the second period as Delta scored three more goals.

With the score 8-0 to enter the third period, the Ice Hawks scored a quick pair of goals in the first 36 seconds of the final frame to take a 10-0 lead.

Shane Harle answered back for the Flames a minute later to get the visitors on the board, but another pair of goals gave Delta the perfect dozen.

Delta’s John Proctor finished the night with a hat trick and six points. Anthony Brito had two goals and three assists, while Spencer Traher had a pair of goals and assists.

Paul Piluso registered an assist on Harle’s goal.

The Flames have an opportunity dig themselves out the Pacific International Junior Hockey League’s basement tonight (Friday) as they take on the Mission Icebreakers, who are currently one point ahead of them in the Harold Brittain Conference standings. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
