Maple Ridge’s DeNure wins gold
Former Meadow Ridge Barracuda and Ridge Meadows minor hockey product Justine DeNure won gold at the Western Canadian Shield Senior Women’s Hockey Championship in Regina last month.
Goalie DeNure and her Saskatchewan Wheat Queens won four straight games at provincials to advance, with DeNure allowing only one goal in her two games played.
At the Western Championships, the Wheat Queens notched four wins and a tie to take the senior A women’s title, with DeNure backstopping the team in their 4-3 double overtime win over the Alberta Coyotes.
DeNure, 20, is attending the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, and was the youngest recruit on a team made up of mostly Regina-based university graduates.
