Local gymnasts take first at tourney
Gymnasts from Maple Ridge’s Club Adagio had a strong showing at the 2012 Millennium Cup International Rhythmic Gymnastics Invitational Competition at Capilano University last weekend, led by Amelia Helmus.
She picked up first place in each of her individual events (free routine, ball, and hoop), as well as won the overall Level 3 Junior competition.
In the Level 1 group routine, Samantha Laverton, Taylor McNeilly, Anastasia Chalatnik combined to take first place.
In Level 3 Novice competition, Mitra Teimouri finished first in the ball routine and second overall, while teammate Diana Bitoiu was third overall, with second-place finishes in the free and ball routine.
In the Level 1 competition, McNeilly and Laverton tied for second place in the free routine, while McNeilly finished third in the rope routine.
