Bombers perfect en route to squirt title

The Ridge Meadow Rompers Bombers went undefeated to take home the tournament title in girls Squirt C softball action Sunday in Richmond.

The Bombers cruised to 3-0 record during round-robin action before facing the Vancouver Skunks in the semi finals.

A hard fought contest saw the scored tied at 9 heading to the sixth inning. The teams then played international rules to break the deadlock, where the team at bat automatically gets to place a runner a second.

The Bombers, lead by the strong pitching of Madison Schmidt and Hannah Trampleasure, were able to hold the Skunks scorless in the top of the sixth.

The Bombers punched their ticket to finals when Cailin McDonald drove home Chloe Black with the winning run.

The Bombers then pounded the Port Coquitlam Animals 17-3 to take home the title.

The team’s offensive barrage  was lead by the strong hitting of  Halle Mitchell, Molly Perler and Sidney Crowe.
