Foundation set to host golf tourney
The Maple Ridge Community Foundation is hoping local residents will chip in for a good cause.
The foundation is hosting its inaugural Community FORE Charity golf tournament at Swan-e-set Bay Resort and Country Club on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
“The foundation does excellent work in our community, and the money raised through this event will enable the organization to continue its efforts,” said Robert Prince, president of the Maple Ridge Community Foundation.
The main purpose of the Foundation is to maintain and grow a community endowment that supports charitable groups in Maple Ridge with grants that allow those organizations to provide services and benefits to the widest possible range of residents.
Prince said money raised at the tournament will help grow the endowment so the foundation can reach more people as the community continues to grow.
“Every year the Maple Ridge Community Foundation doles out thousands of dollars worth of grants from our endowment,” said Prince.
“But we can only do that when people give generously. It’s going to be a fantastic event.”
Prince said there are still opportunities for sponsors at the event. He said they can call 604-880-1181 or email golf@mrcf.ca for more details.
