Maple Ridge’s Leah Regan helped the Simon Fraser University women’s cross country team to victory last weekend in the rain at the Emerald City Open in Seattle.

The women’s team turned in another excellent performance as seven women finished in the top 20 positions in an 83 competitor field.

Regan, a sophomore at the NCAA Division 2 school, finished 26th in the women’s six-km race with a time of 24:40.6.

Lindsey Butterworth of North Vancouver was the Clan’s top finisher on the women’s side as her time of 22:35.3 earned her fourth place.

The SFU Clan women’s cross country team cracked the NCAA Division 2 national rankings last week, coming in at No. 9.
