Maple Ridge Burrards drop to 2-1 with loss to Thunder
Last year’s WLA regular season champs weren’t going to get kicked around forever.
The Langley Thunder were 0-3 to start this season, and had just been embarrassed 15-3 by the Maple Ridge Burrards on Sunday. But they showed some pride in getting revenge on the Burrards on Wednesday night at the Langley Events Centre, getting an 11-7 victory.
It was the first loss of the new season for the Burrards, who are 2-1 on the campaign under new coach Chris Gill.
Big Ben McIntosh, back in the lineup, had two goals and two assists, and led the team with 12 shots on goal.
Tanner Goodwin also a four-point night, with a goal and three assists.
Andrew Murphy had two goals and an assist, Jarrett Davis a goal and two assists, and the other scorer was Patrick O’Meara.
Thunder keeper Brodie MacDonald stopped 39 shots as Maple Ridge out-shot Langley 46-32. Chris Levis was back in net for the Burrards, and gave up 11 goals on 32 shots.
Both teams were deadly on the power-play with four goals apiece.
The Burrards are back in action on Sunday night, at 6:45 p.m., at Planet Ice in Maple Ridge, and will take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
