Shootout decides ball hockey championship
The Maple Ridge Minor Ball Hockey major finals were decided in a dramatic shootout on Saturday night.
The Maple Ridge Camels defeated the Maple Ridge Danglers in an exciting finale, that came down to the last shooter to decide the championship.
The first half ended with the Camels up 3-1 on goals by Zain Karmali, Justin Beachamp and Colton Brown.
But the Camels allowed the Danglers to regain a 4-3 lead.
The game was tied up with 15 seconds left, on a goal scored by Liam Foster.
Both teams had several chances to win the game in overtime, but the game had to be decided in the shootout.
The Camels now move on to the provincial championships hosted by the local ball hockey association this weekend, with the gold medal game being played this Sunday at noon at the Cam Neely Arena.
