Junior B Flames earn consecutive shutouts

The Ridge Meadows Flames earned their 10 shutout and 22nd win of the Pacific Junior Hockey League season Friday at Planet Ice in Maple Ridge.

Team Captain Andrew Strelezki, Alexandre Furlan and Halen Cordoni scored, while Paul Tucek earned the win as the Flames downed the Port Moody Panthers 3-0.

The Flames defeated the Sockeyes by the same score Thursday.

Quenton Magnuson scored twice for Ridge in Richmond. Furlan also scored. Paul Georgeopoulos recorded two assists. Frank Yi and Strelezki also had helpers. Jack Stradiotti made 27 saves to earn the shutout.

Ridge finishes the junior B regular season at 22-18-2-2, third in the Harold Brittain conference, eight points ahead of Mission.

The Flames open the playoffs Friday in Abbotsford, 7:30 p.m., against the Pilots, who finished second in the division, at 24-14-0-4, with 52 points.

The same two teams meet Saturday in Maple Ridge, Planet Ice.

They have split six games with three wins apiece in the regular season.
