The Maple Ridge Burrards offense that struggled to just five goals in their home opener on Sunday exploded for 16 goals in a convincing win over the Langley Thunder on Wednesday night at the Langley Events Centre.

Mike Mallory, who led the team in scoring last season, could call his game a Gordie Howe hat trick – which describes a goal, an assist and a fight. Except he had nine points on five goals and four assists, to go with the requisite scrap that would earn a nod from Mr. Hockey.

He leads the league with 40 shots through his first three games.

Riley Loewen also had an impressive game, with two goals and six assists for eight points.

Adam Dickson, this year’s first round pick out of New Westminster in the Junior A draft, had four goals and six points. The junior sniper now has 12 points in his first three WLA games.

Owen Barker had with two goals and two assists, and other scorers were Tyrell Hamer-Jackson (2) and Spencer Evans.

The Burrards pelted the Langley goaltending duo of Charles Claxton and Davide Diruscio with 66 shots in the game.
