Kwon in tough in final round

Sitting in sixth place after three days at the B.C. Amateur Championships

Maple Ridge golfer Kevin Kwon is sitting in sixth place after three days at the B.C. Amateur Championships at The Springs at Radium.

Kwon was the leader after the first day, after shooting 66, but followed that up with rounds of 70 and 72, for a six-under-par 208.

Kevin Carrigan of Victoria leads with a -13, but is just a stroke ahead of Charlie Hghes of Langley.

Carrigan is the 2012 Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur champion.

Sliding down the leader board after an even-par 72 on a Thursday that had red numbers from most of the leaders was Kwon. After getting his round to -4 through 13 holes, Kwon would give four strokes back over his next three holes, capped by an uncharacteristic triple bogey on the 15th hole. Kwon now sits at -6 over and will be paired with fellow Team Canada Development Squad member Adam Svensson of Surrey and Nanaimo’s Zach Anderson in tomorrow’s final round.

The final round is set to take place Friday morning at the Copper Point Golf Course in Invermere.

The top-3 competitors from the 111th BC Amateur Championship will represent British Columbia on Team BC at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship to be held August 6-9, 2013 at the Royal Colwood Golf Club and Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria.
