The Ridge Canoe and Kayak Club (RCKC), a racing team based at Whonnock Lake, competed over the weekend, April 20 and 21, at Burnaby Lake.

The club had numerous competitors in various age classes in the first event of the BC Cup series, which is organized by Canoe Kayak BC. The Ridge club had a lot of their paddlers hit the podium.

On Saturday, under choppy lake conditions, they raced a 500 meter loop.

12U age group - K1 (one person kayak) Luke Bennett took first.

14U - K1 Tristan Windsor, first.

16U - K1 Samuel Egerton placed second, and Xander Mouland third.

16U - C1 (one person canoe) Hayden McCulloch, second.

18U - K2 RCKC pair Tristan Windsor/Samual Egerton took third in an older age group.

On Sunday, under much better lake conditions, they were racing on a 1 km loop.

14U - 8 km K1 Tristan Windsor, first

16U- 16k K1 Samual Egerton, first

18U - 16k C1 Tyler Billing, second

There are four events in the BC Cup, with the next one back at Burnaby Lake on July 26 and 27.
