Monisha Martins and Robert Mangelsdorf have been selected as finalists for best in-depth reporting by the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association for their coverage on the death of Amanda Todd.
Martins is a reporter with the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News, as was Mangelsdorf, now editor of the South Delta NewsLeader, another Black Press publication. Together they are nominated for the John Collison Memorial Award for Investigative Journalism.
Colleen Flanagan, a multi-media journalist with The News, has also been nominated, for best black and white feature photograph.
Winners in the 2013 BCYCNA Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards will be announced during a gala dinner April 20 at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.
The Ma Murray Awards recognize excellence in newspaper production, publishing, editing, advertising, photography, website design and community contribution.
