Target will open six new stores at B.C. locations

Target Acquired: American retailer opening six new B.C. stores in 2013

Big-box chain is opening locations on Nov. 13 in Abbotsford, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge, Richmond, and Surrey.

Target continues to do just that in B.C., and the company’s planned provincial roll-out for 2013 starts with 31 new locations in Canada – six in British Clumbia – on November 13.

“The final store openings for this year mark a major milestone in Target’s history,” said Tony Fisher, president of Target Canada, in the company’s press release. “The goal for our Canadian expansion was to open 124 stores across all ten provinces in 2013, and we are proud to say that with the help of more than 20,000 Canadian team members nationwide, we have accomplished this unprecedented undertaking.”

The six new B.C. locations are:

Abbotsford – Abbotsford Power Centre

Burnaby – Metropolis at Metrotown

Chilliwack – Cottonwood Mall

Maple Ridge – Haney Place Mall

Richmond – Lansdowne Centre

Surrey – Surrey Place/Central City

In total, Target is rolling out 33 new locations across Canada – the final two coming on Nov. 22, 2013 in St. Catharines, Ont. and Sherbrooke, Que.

Most of Target’s Canadian stores will have a license Starbucks and an in-store pharmacy.

“Guests will be welcomed into bright, clean stores with wide aisles, great guest service and affordable trend-right merchandise,” the company said.

Target rolled out a significant number of new additions in July, which included Courtenay and Kelowna in B.C. By the end of of 2013, it plans to have 124 stores across Canada.

The Minneapolis-based big boxer operates 1,784 locations in the United States.
