Charities, non-profit organizations and Indigenous-serving organizations are being encouraged to apply for provincial grant to advance local programs or projects geared towards reducing poverty and increasing social inclusion in the community.

The Community Prosperity Fund is a provincial investment of $25 million to help community-oriented non profits to make a difference in the lives of people who are struggling with the impact of global inflation.

Organizations that receive funding can decide how they want to use it and it can be used to fund operational expenses or project delivery.

“The Government of B.C. recognizes that non-profits are vital to people and communities in B.C. They are important partners, often providing services to those made vulnerable in all corners of British Columbia. The Community Prosperity Fund will support organizations by providing funding for up to three years to drive positive change in our communities,” explained Amy Pridday, spokesperson for the Maple Ridge Community Foundation, which, alongside other community foundations across B.C., are managing the application intake for the fund.

“Every community is unique, and so are their needs. You know this, and review committees do, too. The Maple Ridge Community Foundation will ensure your application will be reviewed at the local level,” said Pridday, adding that the fund also gives organizations time to use the funding in a way that works best for their plans.

Groups can also apply to support their operational expenses, expand a current project, or create a new one.

Community Foundations of Canada noted how beneficial the fund will be for charities, non-profits and Indigenous-serving organizations in Maple Ridge.

“We know these organizations improve our communities by advancing poverty reduction and social inclusion. If they thrive, we thrive. This means that this type of funding is essential for our community to grow and create communities where we all belong,” said the foundation.

Applications are now being accepted through the online application portal at: www.mrcf.ca/cpf.

The deadline for applications is Monday, June 24.
