School District No. 42’s Environmental School will be the recipient of 58 new laptop computers, donated by computer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard,  AMD processors, and TLD information technology specialists.

The laptops will be delivered to the outdoor elementary school program this month, giving its students access to 21st Century learning technology.

“Students in the Environmental School learn through experience and in context using a variety of tools, from knitting needles to hammers and saws,” said school principal Clayton Maitland. “These computers are a tool that will lead to exciting possibilities in student research, communication and presentation.”

Students will also receive technological support in the field from HP, AMD and TLD.

“It is essential for our district to support this new model of learning with the proper tools,” said district IT manager Richard Eskandar. “This partnership is an example of organizations coming together to enable innovation in learning.”
