Calls out for ways to prevent violence against women

Minister of Status of Women Rona Ambrose has issued a call for proposals for projects to end violence against women and girls.

Minister of Status of Women Rona Ambrose has issued a call for proposals for projects that will fit within Working Together: Engaging communities to end violence against women and girls.

“Our government is taking concrete steps in the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls by helping communities address this important issue,” Ambrose said.

“By inviting proposals for projects that address violence against women and girls, we are working together to create safe communities for all.”

MP Randy Kamp encouraged all interested organizations in Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and Mission to apply.

The proposals will follow four themes:

1. Preventing and reducing violence against women and girls in high-risk neighbourhoods Deadline: Oct. 12.

2. Engaging men and boys in ending violence against women and girls. Deadline: Oct. 12

3. Preventing and reducing violence against women and girls in the name of “honour” Deadline: Nov. 9

4. Preventing and reducing the trafficking of women and girls through community planning Deadline: Nov. 9.
