Pitt Meadows Day will see some major changes this year including a change of venue, parade route, and a drone light show.

This year the event will be held at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park, a venue that will offer more parking space and event space, the city announced on Monday, Jan. 8.

It will mean that the parade route will now begin at Harris Road at the civic centre by city hall and will end at the athletic park.

In addition to these changes, a new drone light show will be taking the place of the traditional fireworks show, which has been cancelled in recent years due to fireworks bans.

City of Pitt Meadows CAO, Mark Roberts, noted the hard work that went into the new plans for this years event by city staff and the Pitt Meadows Day Advisory Committee. The enhancements to the celebration will deliver the “best experience” for the community, he said, in a more accommodating venue.

“Pitt Meadows Day is a beloved community tradition, celebrating 83 years in 2024,” said Mayor Nicole MacDonald.

“We are looking forward to making this time-honoured celebration bigger, better, and more engaging than ever for attendees of all ages.”

Pitt Meadows Day will take place on Saturday, June 1.

More information will be released by the city closer to the date including a detailed parade route, field activities, and event hours.
