Concert for peace this Saturday, May 10 in Maple Ridge

Three choirs and church musicians to perform at St. George
singers
The Sacred Web Singers will perform at a Concert for Peace.

A Maple Ridge church is hosting a Concert for Peace this Saturday, May 10, at 7 p.m.

The event is a first for St. George Church (23500 Dewdney Trunk Rd.), and will involved the Maple Ridge Chorus, the also-local Silvertones seniors choir, the Sacred Web Singers of Vancouver, and St. George's Musicians.

"The idea was to help people realize we all have a responsibility to support peace, if we all believe in peace," said organizer Christine Duamel.

She wants the event to inspire people to think about how they can promote peace.

"I'm hoping this theme will be picked up by other churches and community groups," added Duamel.

Admission will be by cash donation, to either UNICEF or Doctors Without Borders.
