Emerald Pig Theatrical Society is out with a new comedy for their first production of the 2024/25 season, that promises to be hilarious as soon as the lights come up.
'Buying the Moose', written by Michael G. Wilmot, is about a man named Rob who is caught dancing with a blow up doll by his wife, Betty, wearing one of her own dresses. Shocked and appalled, Betty seeks solace from her friend Cheryl – who is married to Rob’s brother, Greg.
Rob talks to Greg about what happened and, with genuine support and concern disguised by a few beers and cruel mockery, they try to figure out how a seemingly perfect relationship came to this unhappy state of affairs.
However, as the story continues, hidden secrets surface, embarrassing insecurities are exposed, and before the story ends, the characters all learn just a little too much about each other, explained producer Angela Bell.
The show is directed by Hazel Eason and features Kelly Wersta as Rob, Aliocha Perriard-Abdoh as Betty, Michelle Stanley as Cheryl, and Murray Hachey as Greg.
This year, Bell said, they will be offering season passes to their most loyal patrons.
Pass holders will get to see three shows for only $66 for adults and $60 for seniors or students. Pass holders will also get into the auditorium to choose their seats before regular ticket holders.
Without a pass ticket prices are only $26 for adults or $23 for seniors or students.
'Buying the Moose' runs Thursday, Oct. 24 to Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. showing on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Albion Community Centre, 24165 104 Ave., Maple Ridge.
In Pitt Meadows the show runs Thursday, Nov. 7 to Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. showing on Sunday, Nov. 10, at Heritage Hall, 12460 Harris Road.
