A free hand-on exploration of freshwater ecosystems will be taking place in Maple Ridge.
Children will get to search for and identify tiny aquatic creatures known as macroinvertebrates.
Guided by a local expert, children will learn how macroinvertebrates help scientists assess the health of streams and ponds by monitoring the water.
The event is being put on by NatureKids BC from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, and is for children between the ages of 5 to 12.
It will be taking place at the Kanaka Creek Watershed Stewardship Center and Bell-Irving Hatchery at 11484 256 Street in Maple Ridge.
