Five ways to celebrate Valentine’s day in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and here are some things to do in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows for those who don’t have any plans in the works.

Both the libraries, in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, have come up with ways to celebrate the day of love. In Pitt Meadows, the library has put together Romance Grab and Go bags for its patrons. People can come in and pick these bags filled with some surprise romance novels.

The Maple Ridge library has organized a ‘Share the Love’ contest where people are encouraged to Like and Follow their Facebook page for a chance to win three prize bags worth $25 each. The contest will run until Feb. 28.

Seniors in the community will also have a chance to celebrate love through an online event organized by the Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Katzie Community Response Network, (CRN), a subcommittee of the Seniors Network. The event will bring seniors together to share their love stories, funniest dating moments, blind dates, and the worst Valentine’s Day gifts they ever received. The afternoon will also have prizes, trivia, jokes and music.

The event will take place on Monday, Feb. 14 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Ridge Meadows Hospice Society, has kept their Christmas tree and have decorated it for Valentines day. The society has decoded to leave the tree up and decorate all your long for different seasons and festivals.

“This is helping us to focus on the love and compassion we have for our community our clients and each other! COVID has challenged us in countless ways, but the message that remains is that we always have a choice to focus our energies and attention on what is good in our worlds,” said the society.

The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association (BIA) is looking for people to shower love on local businesses and have put together a contest to encourage participation. The event, ‘I love Downtown Maple Ridge’, is to encourage people to shop locally between Feb. 1 to Feb. 14 at the participating businesses, submit receipts and get a chance to win two wonder wallets worth $500 each. Winners of the contest will be announced on Feb. 18.
