Heritage Tea sees new venue but same great fun in Pitt Meadows

50 people showed up to the first Heritage Tea event since 2019

After several years of a forced hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pitt Meadows Heritage and Museum Society Reunion Tea event made its triumphant return last weekend.

Pitt Meadows Museum curator Leslie Norman said that the event was dearly missed in the community, having not been held since 2019.

But it wasn't exactly picking up right where they left off, with the tea social forced to relocate from its old spot.

"We used to hold the teas at the Heritage Hall, but ongoing construction in that area and other hall bookings made it difficult to access the site this year," said Norman. "Therefore, we held it at the General Store site of the museum and had the Hoffmann site open for visitations."

"We found the venue to be a little small but much 'homier' than the hall, and it offered us the opportunity to showcase our sites to the guests who attended."

She called the event a big success, with approximately 50 people showing up to sip some tea, enjoy some food, and reconnect with other longtime Pitt Meadows residents.

Norman looks forward to once again making the Heritage Tea an annual event, but for now has shifted her focus on running the BC Culture Days events, with the next one being on Oct. 6. This will give people a chance to do some crafting with the theme of Dutch and Indian cultures.
