Home Town Heroes sought

Nominations are being sought for the Home Town Heroes program.

It started in 1998, when 12 Home Town Heroes were honoured and presented as examples to the youth of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

The program recognizes individuals who have come through local youth sport organizations and gone on to international competition.

Among those honoured include Cam Neely, Larry Walker, Brendan Morrison, Greg Moore, Debbie Brill, Andrew Ladd, Brandon Yip, Lesley McPherson and Kevin Mitchell.

Those eligible must have lived in Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows; attended school in School District No. 42; played on local sports teams and gone on to compete/participate internationally.

To nominate someone, email details to  HomeTownHeroes@gmail.com, or call Mary Robson at 604-466-3333. Deadline for nominations is Sept. 15.

This year’s Home Town Heroes will be honoured Oct. 26 and the annual Meadow Ridge Rotary Sports Banquet.
