A hot air balloon ball drop in Maple Ridge on Saturday will help raise money for a youth wellness centre.

“Let’s do this together,” said Maple Ridge Coun. Corisa Bell, who’s volunteering on the fundraising committee.

The wellness centre would help youth with mental health and substance abuse issues.

“I hear the community asking me what they can do to contribute to the societal breakdowns we’re seeing in Maple Ridge,” Bell added. “It’s very important the entire pilot is seen through, and ultimately securing a Youth Wellness Centre is something positive we can all work toward together.”

The ball drop event takes place at Eric Langton elementary, Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 for each ball, with the prize being $250 in gift cards to shop in Maple Ridge.

“We encourage everyone to come on down and celebrate community coming together,” Bell said. “So many are involved in this – schools, protective services, youth, doctors, MLAs, MP, chamber of commerce, local businesses, and so many others. It’s fantastic.”

• Tickets are available through Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Community Services, located at 11907 – 228 Street. Call Coun. Corisa Bell at 778-861-9477 or email corisabell@gmail.com.
