Around 43 participants gathered for yoga practices led by instructor Shubha Shrivastava at 11767 Fraser Street.

The 11th International Day of Yoga was formally held on Saturday, June 21, and the theme this year was “Yoga for One Earth, One Health."

Events around the world are held to promote health, wellness, and mindfulness through yoga.

“We were thrilled to see such an energetic turnout,” said Kamlesh Maheshwari, director of Boomgaard Early Learning and Child Care, who organized the local event.

“The collective energy and participation truly reflect the growing awareness and importance of yoga in our daily lives,” explained Maheshwari.

The International Day of Yoga was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 2014.

According to the United Nations it is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.
