The Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Maple Ridge has donated $3,500 to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation.

Joanne Krisko and Gloria Stubbert, with the auxiliary, presented Laura Cherrille, executive director of RMHF, with two cheques earlier this month.

One for $2,000 will go towards the purchase of a colonoscope. The other $1,500 is designated for the purchase of a Verifit for audiology.

A colonoscopy is a procedure that enables a physician to see things such as inflamed tissue, abnormal growths, and ulcers in the large intestine and colon. It is often used to look for early signs of cancer in the colon.

A Verifit is used with all of the children seen at the audiology clinic in Maple Ridge  who are fit with hearing aids and some children who require assistive listening equipment. The clinic specializes in providing all of the hearing, screening, diagnostic assessment and equipment support for Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows children to the age of 19 who are referred and currently have more than 700 clients.
