Lions’ donation buys special bed

The Pitt Meadows Lions’ recent donation of $5,000 helped buy a bariatric bed and mattress for Baillie House at Ridge Meadows Hospital.

Baillie House is home to 148 residents needing long-term care. The residential team at Baillie House strive to create a home-like environment to ensure the physical, psychological, cognitive, social and spiritual well-being of each resident is maintained.

A bariatric bed and mattress helps reduce pressure and prevent wounds, as well as assists in treatment.

A bariatric mattress’ low air loss surface assists in both preventative and therapeutic relief and healing of skin wounds, and reduces the risk potential for deep vein thrombosis as a result of sustained pressure points when on a regular mattress.
