A Maple Ridge dancer has just returned from Poland after representing team Canada in acrobatics.

This is the second time Mia Chambers has represented the country in this category of dance.

The IDO World Acrobatic Dance Championships were held in Kielce, Poland on Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 30.

Chambers competed in three dances: a solo, duo, and group dance – under the direction of team Canada head coach and choreographer, Lexy Cox.

The 14-year-old placed third overall in her group formation. She made the finals in the duo and placed fourth overall, and her solo performance placed 18th overall.

More than 3,000 athletes from 30 countries on four continents took part in the competition.

Chambers dances at Peggy Peat School of Dance in Maple Ridge, and trains in acrobatics and contortion at locally owned Blue Crane Contortion.

IDO Canada offers elite dancers in Canada an opportunity to represent the country on the world stage and to learn from master teachers and choreographers both within Canada and worldwide.

The International Dance Organization, or IDO, is a World Dance- and Dancesport Federation with a membership of more than 90 nations, representing more than 250,000 dancers, from six continents.
