A Maple Ridge choir will be putting on two Christmas concerts featuring North American and European classic carols.
Only 200 tickets are available each night for Maple Ridge Chorus' 'Enchanted Winter: A Journey Beyond the Classics'.
Artistic Director Frank Zieginson has also included traditional carols from Venezuela and the Philippines in the performance. James Dekker will be on the piano.
“As I was planning this year’s theme, I was really interested in exploring songs that are not familiar to us, as there are so many different ways to celebrate this time of year," explained Zieginson.
In addition, Zieginson encouraged choir members to select songs of their choice, to ensure a vibrant and eclectic mix of Christmas music for the performance.
Thyra Gillese, president of the Maple Ridge Choral Society, noted how proud she is of the growth of the choir – both in numbers and in skill.
“[I] can’t wait for the community to experience the power of 70 voices ushering in the holiday season”, said Gillese.
The first concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 and then the second concert t at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Both concerts will be performed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 12145 Laity St., in Maple Ridge.
Tickets can be purchased through EventBrite or at the door only if they don’t sell out online in advance.
Tickets are $20 general admission in advance or $25 at the door, ages 12 years and under are free.
There are also $75 patron tickets which include assigned seating and a $55 tax receipt.
Established in 1933, the non-profit Maple Ridge Choral Society, which performs as the Maple Ridge Chorus, is the longest continually running community choir in the area.
It is an all-inclusive, non- audition mixed choir.
