ARMS will once again be painting fish at storm drains to increase public awareness of habitat protection.

A Maple Ridge conservation group is recruiting volunteers for some community betterment projects this month.

The Alouette River Management Society has two projects on Sept. 14:

• Storm drain painting: Starting at Harry Hooge Elementary School they will paint storm drains with bright yellow fish. This is an important activity to help spread awareness that all storm drains lead to fish habitat, and that anything dumped in these drains becomes a pollutant.

• Community litter clean up: Help ARMS remove litter from the roadside around Harry Hooge Elementary school.

If you or your family would like to volunteer for any of these activities, or for more information, you can go to: alouetteriver.org

If you questions about these activities or events email communications@alouetteriver.org
