Kanaka Education and Environmental Partnership Society is hosting an open house on the importance of pollination.

'How the mighty have pollen' will address how pollination works, how pollinators are rewarded, and what species are the pollinators.

Participants will be able to check out the pollinator garden and learn how to encourage pollinators in their own gardens, including how to provide homes for mason bees.

KEEPS is a registered non-profit established in 1998 whose mission is to maintain the health of the Kanaka Creek watershed’s natural ecosystem through education, community involvement, scientific research, land preservation, and partnerships based on stewardship principles.

The Society advises Metro Vancouver Regional Parks with an aim to protect the natural ecosystems, to maintain recreational opportunities in harmony with nature, and to promote public knowledge and stewardship of Kanaka Creek Regional Parks’ natural environment.

The event takes place Sunday, March 16 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Kanaka Creek Watershed Stewardship Centre, 11484 256 Street in Maple Ridge.
