Three-year-old Jesse Weiser and his Maple Ridge family will join thousands of others Sunday, June 8 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s walk to cure Type 1 diabetes.
Jesse was diagnosed with the life-threatening auto immune disease in September 2012 at only 22 months old.
“Our life has drastically changed,” says his mom Tanja. “Insulin is not a cure and everyday our little boy struggles with the challenges of this terrible disease.”
Jesse needs between seven and 10 needles everyday and gets up to 15 finger pricks per day to test his blood.
By June 8, Jesse will have had over 4,850 needles to sustain his life.
His mom says every dollar counts gets us closer to the cure.
