The Thomas Haney Craft Fair is back, and this year it's being organized by students.

It's now billed as Thomas Haney The Happening Craft Fair, and is taking vendor applications for the event which will run on Nov. 23 and 24. The event ran for about 25 years, had a five-year hiatus, and returned last year.

Coordinator Reece Reichelt said the staff members who ran the craft fair moved on, leaving the groundwork for the students to continue the event. Reichelt said he is excited for this year's craft fair, and expecting an even bigger turnout than last year, as they have more than 120 vendors from across B.C. and are rolling in at least seven food trucks as a new feature.

"We're predicting an even bigger crowd than the 3,500 people we saw last year," he said.

This year's craft fair will feature a plethora of products such as soaps, candles, home goods, clothing, jewelry, decorations, food products, woodworking products, and much more.

"Our craft fair will also feature a variety of other amenities such as a food truck fest with over 7 food trucks with a variety of food, cafe, and child care," said Reichelt. "Also, in our endeavour to be more sustainable, we'll have on sale Thomas Haney Craft Fair recycled bags as well as reusable tote bags designed by local indigenous artists."

The fair will run each day at the school from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, and children 12 and under are free with an adult. There will also be childcare by donation.

The proceeds go back to the school, and last year they were able to give $2,500 dollars for the Happening Citizenship Award, $10,000 dollars to the tech department for the purchase of new equipment, $2,000 to the gardening club to replace stolen power tools, and a complete set of storage bins and a new event cart for the student council.

"We invite you to come join us in helping better our community by supporting a local school as all money raised by our admission prices goes back into supporting events and projects at Thomas Haney," said Reichelt.
