A Dutch quartet will be kicking off a new season at Westacres in Maple Ridge.
The Butter Quartet, consisting of stringed instruments, will be the first group of the 43rd season for the Maple Ridge Music Society.
Formed during their studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, the quartet consists of violinists Anna Jane Lester and Chloe Prendergast, violist Isabel Franenberg, and Evan Buttar who performs internationally on both the baroque cello and the viola da gamba.
The foursome have been featured in a variety of European festivals and they have also been broadcast on national classical radio in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, and Slovenia.
They released their debut album 'Scintilla' in July 2024 and they are currently on a North American tour.
At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, they will be performing quartets by Joseph Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn and a selection from Mendelssohn's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
The Maple Ridge Music Society, formed more than four decades ago, is dedicated to offering classical chamber music of the highest standard to the community.
Admission to the concert is by donation, with a suggested donation of $35.
