The 2012 Great British Columbia ShakeOut earthquake drill took places Thursday at 10:18 a.m., with more than 570,000 people are registered to participate.
In total more than 13.6 million people worldwide practiced earthquake safety on Thursday by dropping, taking cover and holding on.
British Columbia is located in a seismically active region where a few thousand earthquakes occur each year in and adjacent to the province. The threat of a major earthquake in the province is real and all British Columbians must know how to be prepared.
