A number of actors from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows will be transporting the magical world of Mary Poppins to a stage in Langley.

Shannon Pauls has been cast in the role as Mrs. Corry among other roles, Angela Bell is playing the bird woman, David Hughes has been cast as Admiral Boom, and youth performer Samantha Alarcon will be taking on the role of Michael Banks, in Theatre In The Country's production of the beloved Broadway musical.

Based on the classic Disney film and the original story series by Pamela Lyndon Travers, 'Mary Poppins: The Broadway Musical' will feature unforgettable music and dazzling choreography, said Reg Parks, Theatre in the Country’s artistic director.

The score features iconic songs like: 'A Spoonful of Sugar', 'Chim Chim Cher-ee', and 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'.

And, added Parks, there will be stunning set designs and vibrant costumes.

Directed by Dann Wilhelm, with choreography by Stef Delisimunovic, and musical direction by Tamara Croft, the production has been crafted with care to bring out the magic in every scene, noted Parks, with theatrical effects, "that will make Mary Poppins’ flights over the rooftops of London and the chalk-drawn streets of imagination come to life."

'Mary Poppins: The Broadway Musical' will be live on stage until Dec. 14 at Theatre In The Country, 5708 Glover Rd., Langley. Shows run from Dec. 4 to 7 and from Dec. 11-14.

Parks promises a fresh take on the magical tale, packed with memorable performances, and awe-inspiring stagecraft that will captivate audiences both young and old.

"We’re thrilled to bring Mary Poppins to Langley and to invite families and friends to join us for an unforgettable evening of live theatre," said Parks.

"This production is a labour of love, and we can’t wait to share its joy and magic with our community."
