Maple Ridge Christian school recently raised $70,000 with a walkathon event.

The funds will be used for a major renovation of the school, and 10 per cent will be donated to the Friends in Need Food Bank.

The money will  be used for the completion of a new third floor on the school building, with additional classroom space.

“This fundraiser enables our students to raise funds for our local food bank that serves our community by providing food for those in need,” said Jessica Marando, events coordinator at MRCS.

“We wanted to give our students the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves, blessing those in need and raising funds to benefit students for generations to come.”

Because they reached their goal, the kids will be given an ice cream party for the entire school.
