Nominations for 2023 Maple Ridge Citizens of the Year now open

Nominations are now open for the 2023 Maple Ridge Citizens of the Year award.

There are three categories to which nominations can be made.

The Lifetime Achievement award celebrates the lifelong dedication of a Maple Ridge resident who has consistently provided exceptional volunteer contributions locally, nationally, or internationally, resulting in the enrichment of the quality of life in Maple Ridge or bolstering Maple Ridge’s reputation in the wider community. These contributions can span various fields, including but not limited to art, culture, athletics, social service groups, or service clubs.

The Teesha Sharma Memorial award acknowledges the volunteer efforts of a young adult aged between 20- and 40-years-old, who has significantly contributed to the community’s well-being or enhanced the image of Maple Ridge in the larger community. These contributions can include areas such as art, culture, athletics, social service groups, or service clubs.

Finally the Youth Category which recognizes the exceptional volunteerism of a youth aged 18 years or younger, who has positively impacted Maple Ridge’s quality of life or reputation in the larger community through their volunteer endeavors. These contributions can also cover various areas including art, culture, athletics, social service groups, or service clubs.

The awards are put on by the Maple Ridge Community Foundation, a charitable body that manages a permanent endowment and gives thousands back to local non-profit organizations.

The awards gala will take place on Saturday, April 20, at Albion Community Hall. Tickets will be available soon.
