Lozan Yamolky, the new caretaker at Malcolm Knapp UBC Research Forest, decorated a tree at the entrance to the forest, then stepped back to take a few pictures. The reflections in the Christmas balls turned out looking like happy faces, with trees for eyes, road for a smile, and the photographer as the nose. “I invite people to come and hike in this hidden gem, but please remember no bikes, no dogs, and no smoking here. Bring the family and people you love and enjoy the healing walk this forest offers here,” said Yamolky. “I will keep the decorations hanging until the new year, so when it snows again, you can come and see the smiling faces for yourselves.” (Special to The News)
