It was a vibrant scene throughout the Albion Fairgrounds last Saturday as thousands of rocks, gemstones, and pieces of jewelry filled not one but two of the buildings as part of the annual Maple Ridge Lapidary Club market.
This Rock, Gem and Jewelry Market featured dozens of vendors selling a wide variety of colourful and sparkling items, including metaphysical items.
Some kids even experienced a bit of hands-on fun at the market, getting to crack open their own geode at one of the booths.
This market is one of the main money-making ventures for the club and helps to support their various classes and programs throughout the rest of the year, explained board member Lizzi Frausto.
"We were able to raise about $4,000," said Frausto. "Nearly 500 people attended the market."
In addition to getting some new equipment and a new roof, the club also plans on bringing back its kid's program in the new year, explained Frausto.
The next major event for the Maple Ridge Lapidary Club is the Rock and Gem Show in February, which takes over the Albion Community Centre for two entire days.
