Pickleball workshops are coming to the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society's activity centre in Maple Ridge.

Workshops in pickleball are coming up at the seniors activity centre in Maple Ridge to introduce novices to the sport.

Pickleball can be played indoors or outdoors and is almost like a combination of tennis and ping pong. It is a fast-paced game played on a court where either two players or four players use a racket or a paddle to hit a hollow, plastic ball over a net.

Expert instructors will guide those who want to learn through the basics of the sport including: serving, returning serves, scoring, court positioning, and some tactics.

Workshops are best suited for those with fewer than 20 games played.

Equipment will be provided and the event is being hosted by Elevate Pickleball.

Each workshop is one hour and they will take place at 10:30 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society's Maple Ridge Seniors Activity Centre at 12150 224 St., Maple Ridge.

There is a minimum of six participants and a maximum of 12 participants for each time slot and the fee is $20 per person.

Those wanting to take part must have a Ridge Meadows Seniors Society membership and pre-register by calling 604-467-4993.
